Forest Climate Adaptation

Functional Ecology

Research Profile

Dr Peter Petrík is a plant ecophysiologist specialising in plant hydraulics, drought and heat stress tolerance, and the coupling of carbon and water fluxes in temperate forest ecosystems. His research integrates field experiments, physiological measurements, and ecological synthesis to understand how forests respond to increasing climatic extremes.

Currently based at the Technical University of Dresden, he develops mechanistic approaches to understand the drivers of tree mortality and to support climate-adaptive forest management across Europe. He collaborates internationally on pan-European monitoring initiatives aimed at improving our understanding of forest resilience under climate change.
